Research Focus
Current research focus is on the regulation of lipid metabolism in ruminants to improve animal performance and well-being and enhance the quality of animal-derived foods. One major focus is the regulation of milk fat synthesis with investigations ranging from producer-related applications involving feeding and management of dairy cows to genomic-related studies of the cellular signaling and regulation of lipogenesis. A second major focus relates to functional foods and enhancing the presence of beneficial fatty acids in milk fat; these investigations range from cow-related studies to enhance these fatty acids in milk fat to biomedical studies of their effects in the prevention of chronic diseases using animal models.Educational Background
PhD from University of Illinois
